The Digital Dan
   (Audio - 8, Video - 7.5)

This is an interesting production in that two sources were used. There was an analog master clone audio and a 8mm to Digital8 clone video. There is a pronounced sound difference between the two audio sources with the 8mm source being far superior in stereo separation, brightness and clarity. The analog master's sound is more distant with less stereo separation and slightly muffled by comparison; though it is very clean, hiss free and undistorted. The analog master does serve a purpose. The first couple minutes of Freewill and all of Bravado are missing from the 8mm source. I used the analog master to fill in those parts (both for the DVD and the CD versions of this show). And that is where the title is derived from, the return of Bravado to the set list.

The video quality, especially for the time, is fantastic. Having a clone of the original 8mm (incorrectly credited as a Hi8 in the dvd menus) allowed for the best resolution and color fidelity. This is especially true when you compare to other 1st VHS sources of the same time frame. Since this is the age before "steady shot" camera's the video isn't perfectly stable. But it is definitely very stable and a better nights filming than on the "Dem Bones" show (same filmer). This is a blast to watch because of how good the sound is. In the missing section of Freewill and Bravado, a still shot montage was used to fill in the visual gap. This makes for a complete show, start to finish. The video was encoded at the highest bit rate and quality settings. So sit back and really enjoy this one.

Thanks to NYBG for the Digital8 clone of the master 8mm source. Because of his generosity, we have this wonderful show to watch. Some of his other filmed video's on DVD include Rush's "Initial Reflections", "The Big Apple DVD" and "Dem Bones" as well as the Blue ?yster Cult release "Godzilla Comes Out in Mountainside". As with all Digital Reproductions releases, this is for free trade and blank media trade only. Please keep the spirit of trading alive and well.
