Although sound quality is subjective, in my opinion, this recording came out better than my Montreal recording from the following night. The high end is a little sharper, the low end a little smoother, with a little less echo in Geddy's vocals. The sound in the venue was better, so its not a surprise that the recording turned out better. Also, I was on the floor close to the left speaker stack, which I expect helped. I did have to apply some EQ to the low end to reduce some boominess. Other than that, and some amplitude adjustments, I did little as far as remastering goes.

This show was recorded on a Sony Hi-MD recorder, in PCM mode. While this mindisc recorder has the ability to record in PCM format, you can only record 94 minutes per Hi-MD disc in this mode. This was my first show for this tour, so was unsure how long each set would be. I switched discs after the first set, but since the first set was just a bit over an hour, I was nervous that the second set and encore wouldn't fit on the second disc, which turned out to be correct. Once the second set was over, I saw I only had a bit over 10 minutes left on the disc, and figured that wouldn't be enough to capture the encore. Due to the way the TOC is written to a disc when you stop recording, and the amount of time it takes to do so, switching discs between the end of the second set, and start of the encore would be tricky. I decided it would be safer to simply switch to Hi-MD SP mode for the encore, rather than risk losing some music at the start of the encore due to a disc switch. The quality is very similar, but you may well notice a bit of softness in the high end during the encore as compared to the main body of the show, due to the switch in recording format to a lossy format.

The audience was very enthusiastic in Quebec, although not quite so much as they were in Montreal the next night. The audience around me were fairly well behaved. Overall, I was pleased with how the recording turned out, and it serves as a nice souvenir of this excellent performance by the band.
