Production Notes

Recorded from Orchestra 3
Recorded and mastered by Markbot

Coresound Binaurals (90 degrees)-> battery box (bass roll off on)->Edirol R-09 24 bit/48 KHz->Dane Elec 4GB SDHC->USB 2->PC->SoundForge 8->16 bit/44.1 KHz wav->TLH->FLAC

Other than the conversion to 16/44 this is the raw source. There was a recording level adjustment correction made during Between the Wheels. No EQ or any other sonic adjustments were made.

Excellent seats at an excellent concert with brand new recording equipment. What could go wrong? Well the Edirol display is bright as hell and it attracts security personnel like moths to a flame. When is Roland going to fix this non-stealth feature? The display needs to shut off after a few seconds. Anyways I was busted recording this show during Natural Science. Hence the fade. No one really wants to hear me try to convince the security guy the R-09 is a cell phone. It was worth a try. To make a long story short he took my memory card to go "erase it" and then he brought it back. Nothing was erased and now you have it. This was just my second show with the R-09 after making the move away from DAT earlier this week when I recorded Alan Parsons and Asia at Clearwater, FL. I think I finally got the hang of setting recording levels.

WARNING: I was close to the stage and there is a very loud pyrotechnics explosion during Far Cry. If you are cranking this recording be careful not to blow up you stereo or your ear drums. I can't be held responsible. You've been warned.

In a nut shell, what I did record sounds pretty darn good. There is some crowd noise, but the band was so loud it pretty much overpowers it. Hopefully someone else got the whole thing as I would really love to relive the complete show.

This is a nice recording of a portion of the Tampa show. What is here is good, just the taper ran into some bad luck. What can you do. Fortunately we have what we have of this recording. I do not hold against any show when the taper gets caught. I listen to what is there and make a review according to what I heard. Stereo image was good, though there was some minor fluctuation of the high end frequencies. This experience shows us that people who take the risk of recording these shows are doing all of us a favor and deserve credit. Thanks to the taper!!    (2007-06-17)
