First Gen Cassettes (Maxell UD) -> Sony KA3ES (player) -> Guillemot Max Studio Isis (Sound Card) -> Adobe Audition -> EAC -> mkw Audio Compression Tool. The first gen cassettes were prepared in 1982 by the original taper. This is the only copy that he now has. The masters are lost or destroyed. The master was recorded on a portable JC Penney brand portable recorder the size of a paperback book using the built in microphone; this is not a high fidelity recording. Both shows were taped with the same equipment. The right channel of the cassette had a bit more hiss and considerably less definition than the left so the right channel of the CD is a clone of the left channel. I applied a small amount of hiss filter in Audition but did not EQ or use any type of dolby on the player. After writing a cue sheet, I mounted the image in Daemon Tools (using the wave from the capture, not a cdr copy) and used Exact Audio Copy to split it into tracks. These were then converted to SHN. That's all the technical info. The title comes from the fact that Geddy, right before introducing Freewill, mentions the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team who were engaged in the 1982 World Series the week that these concerts were performed; and of course the outro music played after the concert. The last 3rd of the Oct. 12th concert is not on the 1st generation copy. The original taper believes that he recorded the last set but that the master didn't turn out or was somehow ruined and he didn't put it on the dupe. It's hard to remember since both the master and the dupe were made 25 years ago. Oct. 12: The first 30 seconds or so of Camera Eye is missing. Oct. 15: A small bit at the beginning of Closer to the Heart is missing. Part of the middle of Limelight is missing. Part of the middle of Countdown is missing. There is a minor dropout during the opening whoosh of 2112. The first 3 discs could be fit onto two, but I prefer for it to be posted, seeded, traded, and circulated as a 4 disc set so that the 2 shows don't get mislabeled and mixed up. Since digitalrushexperience.com likes for these things to have a record company type label, this one goes out as Piper Productions in honor of my cat. I'm not real crazy about my back cover art but I'm tired of fooling with it. I like the front though.    (2007-03-01)
