Another really nice show from the R30 tour, and the best of this 4 part series. Theres a small moment of silence on the first track, probally a transfer error? But thats the only probelm on this whole show. Its really nice sounding, and Very little audience noice on it, take a listen to the Darn Dragon Intro, and its really amazing how nice and clear , with no anoying fans on it it is!?
It also brings up a great point about the venue, I myself sat 6 th row center for the show, and where i was it sounded a little muddy too bad, but just a littel muddy. My friends and i wondered if the sound back farther, and up was better. Well this tape, and friends that were seating up higher along with the taper in the first mezanine prove just that, take a listen, and you'll see what I mean, and proablly down the road we'll have a version from down lower, and you'll be able to compare the difference for yourself! On Aug. 13, 2004, I and my girlfriend fly from Narita International Airport to
Toronto to see RUSH R30 tour ! The first 3 days in Toronto were just for
sightseeing and went to many RUSH sights. On Aug. 16, the last TO day before
leave to NYC, we hoped to go to Orbit Room but just the day they were closed for
maintenance... Oh no.
Anyways, after TO sightseeing, we moved to NYC by express bus (about 11 hours
rocking) to see boys at RCMH ! Wow. Then the next day, we picked up our ticket
at box office and we met some Rush DC hub buddy, Rushguy69, midwinter, SCREAM
and Liz and Roosterboy. What a coincidence !
At about 19:30, we enter the hall. Wow... what a gorgeous lobby! And the hall is
just the same as what I've seen on p/g tourbook ! Awesome. Then the show started
just on 20:00.
Our seats were 1st Mezzanine, 5th row and right side of block 200. Excellent
seat for viewing entire stage and the beautiful lighting ! And surprised about
the sound at the seats. Excellent ! I knew it is very good for enjoying
lighting, but I did not expect how good the sound is.
So, I could tape the whole show with excellent sound. But on Earthshine, there
is a major flaw... Well, we stood up at the show started and did not sit down.
Of course. It's RUSH concert ! I CANNOT sit down ! But on the song, security
woman went to my side, and said "due to you stand and raise your arms, people
sitting behind you cannot see so please sit down" ... OH NO. The guys behind
ours call her and told
their complaints. So we had to sit down. and when she came, I hide mic and the
sound turned muffled. Very sorry matter. But overall sound is excellent. Missing
only about 2 sec during the intro movie sequence because I slewed around the rec
volume knob to bad side, though.
The show itself, was of course great. About performance, Geddy missed to sing a
beginning of 2nd verse of The Spirit of Radio and the last verse of Force Ten
(that time Ged got back to vocal mic at Keyboards but he should got the one for
bass-only-playing), but almost perfect. And the ORCH crowd (not the ones at Mezz)
was hot. You can listen to orch
audience sang Red Barchetta, The Trees or Heartfull of Soul etc. Pretty hot show
it was, except that we were forced to sit down...
One more thing. This time I got a disposal camera into the show and took 40 pics.
But the result was very disappointed one. The film in the disposal one was
ISO1600, for take night illumination or fireworks, but seems need more light. So
for this "Part 1", I do not have good concert pics. (2004-09-11)

A nice audience recording from the first night at Radio City on the R30 tour. The band isn't as clear as they are on some recordings, but this is a pretty good show overall. (2004-10-10)
