Ron's Rush RoIO Review

This show captures the band in a rare Japan appearance. The songs here are all typical of the GUP performance, with a few differences. Mainly, the drum solo is in YYZ, as on the Exit...Stage Left album, instead of in Red Lenses, as with the rest of the GUP tour. Also, the encore is missing from this show. It?s interesting to hear the polite clapping of the Japanese crowd -- no yelling in between or during songs. Listening to this show, it almost sounds like a rehearsal in a small room. The sound quality is pretty good, but this one lacks fidelity, with most of the sound compressed into the middle frequencies. All instruments are audible though, and there are no cuts. Not the best GUP ROIO out there, but still a very listenable show.   (1999-04-01)
