Courtesy of Ron I received 2 sets of tapes (total 4 tapes) to master. 2 different sources. 1 unknown as of yet, one being the source tape used for Pause, Rewind, Replay albeit a lower gen.

Source 1 is the main source for this release as it sounds superior to the source used for Pause, Rewind, Replay. Some distortion in the lower midrange is still present but most was taken out by means of channel mixing. A little eq'ing and some other handling to improve the overall audio quality was done. This has resulted in a more than listenable show. Portions of the show were missing for source 1. These were filled in with the parts from the source used for PRR. There is an obvious difference in sound (and audio quality) but since it?s the exact same show I deemed it right to use. This results in a complete show for this evening.

Disc 1 sounds superior to disc 2. Disc 2 sounds very compressed (the tape was already like this). There was not much that could be done about this. All in all a fair sounding show. There are better ESL recordings out there but this could certainly be an addition to your collection if you're not too discerning. No Hiss reduction or any other noise reduction was used in order to not degrade the original audio signal. At approx. 15 seconds into The Camera Eye a weird "plop" is noticeable. This is the taper hitting the mic. Limelight has a dropout during 5 seconds the sound is not completely faded but quite a bit. This was already present in the tapes. Enjoy as long as your motives are on a non-profit base. (Norbert)    (2003-06-23)
