Taper's Notes

Having traveled to Greenville, SC to see RUSH on their opening night of the tour, I was anxious to see them perform in my hometown two days later. I had met up with Dave, a Michigan RUSH fan that flew down to see the South Carolina and Florida shows.

Sound Check - We got to the venue in the afternoon in hopes of seeing the band arrive and catch the sound check. It was a cold and windy February day, so we stayed in the car until we saw the tour bus round the corner. We ran up to the back entrance in time to see Alex and Geddy get off the bus and enter the Coliseum. We then made our way to one of the glass doors and waited for the sound check to begin. The facility staff wasn?t interested in our request for them to open the door so that we could hear better.

Concert Recording - Our reserved seats were in the middle of the floor?quite a change from the previous general admission show in Greenville where we battled the crowd to get up close to the stage. I set up the equipment during Mr. Big and hoped that no talkers or screamers would have seats around me. The results were good considering it was the first concert that I had recorded in the Coliseum.

On to the Orlando show a few days later to record that one?    (2002-10-23)

The Digital Dan
   (Audio - 7)

Another very good audience recording from the Presto tour. Taken directly from the original master cassettes. A really good sounding audience recording, and fairly clear. Also included is the soundcheck, and while it can sound pretty dreadful, it makes for a nice addition to the show. Since it is early in the tour, Superconductor comes after Show Don't Tell and Big Money is the encore and not The Spirit of Radio. The Big Money has a great drum solo ending! Makes for a more unique set list and a very desirable recording. A very special thanks to ElvisJB for graciously allowing us to borrow the master cassettes to work from. As with all Digital Reproductions recordings, it's only available via free trade and never for sale. Just visit the trading links section to find people that will gladly trade this recording for free.    (2002-10-23)
