Mark Schneider (Audio - 10)
A shorter, previously released version of this show, Mystic Dreams, has long been among my top 2 or 3 favorite live performances in terms of sound quality, sound strength/balance and vocal crispness. I was delighted to hear about this expanded show and quickly obtained a copy by, of course, trade. It did not disappoint. Not only are there additional tracks (Manhattan Project, Marathon, and a longer but still cut version of YYZ/drum solo) but also I believe the sound is even crisper. I especially like the prominence of the bass and synthesizers. These are not over emphasized. Conversely, they tend to be lost in some lesser quality shows. Therefore, this expanded recording will remain forever among my favorites and Mystic Dreams may never find itself in my CD drives or burner again. Maybe my kids can use it as a Frisbee. (2001-12-02)

i'd rate this a perfect 10 except it's missing perhaps one of the better Rush encores in the last 25 years (Overture/2112 --> Grand Designs, and well, ITM).
the bands melts out of The Trees with a ponderous jungle-themed outro complete w/ squawking birds, pagan howling, barking dogs; perhaps the best version of this song since ESL...
the drum intro to Mystic Rhythms will test your woofers so beware!
all the PoW stuff is top-notch, Middletown Dreams in particular.
the band was especially on this night... if you don't have 4-16-86 in your collection, what are you waiting for?! (2007-08-26)
