On this recording, it was taped with the recorder under the seat.? Also it had auto-reverse recording, one side is a bit brighter.? That resulted in the unevenness, along with a tape switch witch moved the mic.? Just a little recording history there.   (1999-04-01)

The Digital Dan
   (Audio - 6.5)

Another in a series of master recordings. This was recorded only a couple days before the infamous Memphis show and you get an idea all is not well (mentally) with Alex. The performance is great. The band sounds very tight and it shows in the energy of the performances. The sound is very good start to finish and actually borders on fantastic for "Distant Early Warning" through "Mission". That segment of the show has a noticeable increase in clarity and resolution. There are a couple cuts in the show, one during the beginning of Distant Early Warning and one at the beginning of Territories. Neither ruins the track though. But the story once again is Alex. During 2112 he is once again inserting comments to Geddy's vocals. Geddy: "Our great computers fill the hallowed halls." Alex: " Yeah, they're really tall too and have a lot of switches!" Geddy: "We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx." Alex: "Yeah, where is that anyways?" It goes on like that for a while and is quite funny. Once again you have to feel sorry for Geddy as Alex is doing his best job of completely disrupting the vocals. Highly recommend show if for Alex's commentary alone.??
